This is the mindmap we created while brainstorming different ideas for the name of our production company, and the arguements we gave for each idea.

Treatment and Pitch Outline

The music video will begin with our artist walking out of a sexual health clinic with an STD test result. He drops it, and walks off. The music starts and the key narrative begins, which is our artist waking up disheveled after a particularly indulgent night out, and stumbling home while performing the song lyrics. This will be interspersed with fragmented, chaotic flashbacks to moments the night before at the party, and kept interesting by changing between locations for the performance. There will also be a two children dressed as policemen chasing the artist. The flashbacks will include a sex scene (linking to the clinic at the beginning), and the video will end in a circular structure to bookend the video and give it a sense of conclusion.

Researching Existing Texts Influencing Our Own Work

This is the video or 'Sticks and Stones', one of our artist's most famous songs. This illustrates how his style of music translates to video, and for us provides the benchmark against which we will ultimately judge our own video.

Following a brainstorm session on YouTube, we found the types of videos which we would ideally like to be able to emulate, either in style, narrative, visual codes, iconography, or in filming and editing techniques.

The song we have chosen to do is Ike & Tina by Jamie T:

We have chosen to create a music video for this song because, after hours spent deliberating and arguing over different artists across a wide variety of genres, we found that this artist was one of the few which gave us a great landscape for some brilliant and appropriate ideas.

Musically, the song is straightforward without being boring, and the focus on lyrics gives us an opportunity to launch our ideas from the themes coming out in the artist's word choice rather than being constrained by the conventions of a rock-band image.
